M.E. in a Nutshell

What do I do?

My name is Michelle C. East. As I was growing up, I watched my brother Mark Miller develop his amazing art skills. He and my great grandmother Elsie Patty were my inspiration to begin drawing in junior high and to eventually pursue an art career. I graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a BA in studio art and have worked as a graphic designer, freelance artist, and an art educator for 16 years teaching Elementary Art through High School Art Classes.
Painting & Pottery-these are my passion! I am driven to create! Watercolor and acrylic painting are my favorite mediums to work in, but I also really enjoy the challenges of oil and mixed media as well. I am drawn to realism, vibrant colors and natural pattern, these elements influence my work. As an art teacher, I try to expose my students to many different mediums, both 2D and 3D. Working with so many different mediums has also had an impact on my personal artwork. For me, the joy comes in the PROCESS of creating.
Pottery has re-enter my life and I am continually working to improve my skills and challenge myself to create new pieces! We are grateful to have a pottery wheel and kiln at our home studio allowing my to dedicate much of my time throwing, handbuilding, and glazing pottery!
I believe that the Lord Jesus has given me a talent & desire for art. It is my hearts desire that He be glorified in all I create.

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, “I used everything you gave me“. ~Erma Bombeck

In addition to creating artwork, I am an art education blogger sharing 17+ years worth of art lessons on Create Art with ME.
